Carthy said that although the suspension of the monthly recycling day is a temporary setback, ‘1;he board and the county are still committed to recycling.”
He said that the county has investigated other options to keep the program going, but that the combination of a depressed market for the recyclables and the distance to Rappahannock has discouraged any companies from getting involved.
He reported that he has not yet received the recycling contract back from Mr. Stinnett, “but he assured me that there was no problem.”
“I’m still with it,” the county administrator added. “The minute we get the go-ahead to build the shelter (for the recycling center) we will start. I don’t think it will take much time. It’s not the construction that is holding things up — it’s dotting all the ‘i’s’ and crossing the ‘t’s’.”
