The Culinary Hearts Kitch^ Course is based on the Americ Heart Association’s dietary recommendations, which include:

• adjusting your intake of calorie to reach and maintain ideal bodjj weight. j

• reducing your total fat intake t$ less than 30 percent of daily calorie! and your saturated fat intake of less than 10 percent of total calories.

• reducing your cholesterol intake to less than 100 mgs. per 1,000 calories and your saturated fat intake of less than 10 percent of total calories. 4

• increasing your intake of carbohydrates, primarily grains, fruits, and vegetables, but not sugar.

• avoiding excess sodium. Sodium intake should be reduced to approximately 1 gram per 1,000 calories, not to exceed 3 grams per day. (1/2 teaspoon salt contains 1,000 mgs. — 1 gram — of sodium).
