New Year’s offers an opportunity for each one of us to pause and assess our own life — evaluating our priorities and taking stock of the direction our lives are going. It’s a time to pause, catch our breath and consider what we can make of the new year.
Today, more and more people are getting caught up in the grind and pressures of daily living. The result is that they experience stress and exhibit its symptoms: physically, emotionally, mentally and behaviorally.
Stress can sneak up on you. It can be a subtle process of taking on more and more responsibilities, with schedules getting fuller and fuller, until the individual feels drained and exhausted. ,
Many people seek counseling because they feel that their life is out of sorts and they are not happy with the way they are behaving. Perhaps they cry, or are weepy, or just feel “down” for long periods during the day. They may find that they have little or no patience with their children. In some people, stress is mam ifested by feelings of anxiety or panic.
In general, they describe just not feeling or behaving like themselves.
