Community Christmas celebration

On Sunday, Dec. 17, RAAC will sponsor the annual Community Christmas Program at the Gay St. Theater. The program will begin on the courthouse lawn at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the Christmas ; tree. Then the festivities move across the . street to the theater, whefe the RCHS Choir * and Senior Choir will sing seasonal songs ; and join in traditional holiday carols. There • will also be hot cider and cookies, a visit ; from Santa and a screening of the holiday favorite "A Christmas Carol." There is no admission charge for the event, which is sponsored by RAAC as a Christmas present to the Rappahannock community. For more information, call the RAAC office, 6753193.

Clothing, toys for needy

The "Support the People" project will end its third year with a giveaway of donated clothing and toys at Washington Fire Hall, 10a.m.-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16. There will be clothing for men, women and children in all sizes and toys of every description, and Santa will visit at 1 p.m. Any residents who are in need of clothing or toys for the children on their Christmas lists are invited to stop by the fire hall and choose what they need. The event is sponsored by a group of community organizations and is entirely free for any needy residents.
