boy and girl? The girl’s about 1 1/2 to two years and the boy is two or three years old. They livin’ in a camper trailer — the kind that sits on a truck, only it’s sittin’ up on blocks now.”
“I’m going to give them nuts, fruits, and cookies and I’ve got a nice doll baby for the girl. Can you get these kids some clothes?”
Mrs. Compton is a true angel! She’s small, a bit plump, has arthritis so bothersome. “I can’t hardly get around no more,” and she has the most beautiful smile you ever saw.
Oh, and her house! It’s a Christmas dreamland. As I walked in, the parakeets greeted me in the kitchen and the heat of the woodstove quickly warmed me, while Mr. Compton nodded a “Hello” from his easy chair and asked,-“How are you today?”
My eyes adjust to the dimly lit room and I see the hundreds of beautiful old ceramic figures and figurines, little toys and nicnacs, plump gold fish swimming in their home, Christmas decorations, a Nativity scene, and strings of small twinkling lights hung about.
