It s great to be back after five months; I deeply appreciate the prayers of everyone and am doing much better. During this period we have seen history being made with the partial destruction of the Berlin Wall and crumbling of communism in many countries; we’ve also witnessed two great disasters, the destruction caused by Hurricane Hugo in the Carribean and the Carolinas and the Northern California earthquake. We are reminded of the Armenian earthquake a year ago last Sunday, in which 25,000 died and today 500,000 are still homeless. May we count our blessings this holiday season and help those less fortunate.
The retirement luncheon held in Alexandria, Nov. 30, for Dr. Marv Atkirts, Deputy Director of the Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA), turned out to be more of a reunion, thanks to the efforts of his personal assistant Mary Ann Bennett, whose efforts were also publicly recognized by the director, Major General Watson.
