Each year, the Rappahannock County Social Services office conducts a food and fund drive for area needy. This year is no exception.
“We are on the drive now,” Mrs. Davis said, adding that contributions are needed to make this year’s campaign as successful as those in the past years.
The office is accepting any canned or non-perishable goods for distribution Dec. 22. Perishable items — such as meat, dairy products or fresh foods —,are accepted, but the office personnel asks donors to refrain from bringing them to the office until distribution day.
“We’ve no place to store them” Mrs. Davis said, adding that if anyone is interested in donating a turkey or the like, he or she should contact the office so donated funds do not reproduce the same item.
Donated items are divided up and sent to families the office feels meets the need requirement.
