The bottom line, say those Republicans who call for an inward look, is that the Republican Party of Virginia must emphasize the traditional virtues of fiscal prudence and limited government while offering practical and efficient programs to cope with modern-day problems in transportation, education, health care and other things that concern average Virginians. And that, they add, will take a sense of unity and purpose Republicans have not demonstrated in recent years.
