Final poetry series
This Tuesday, April 24 marks the last of the poetry series sponsored by the Rappahannock County Library and led by Jon Heddleston, English teacher at the Rappahannock County High School. It is with pride that this session features our student poets from Rappahannock and Wakefield Schools. Parents, friends and community members are invited to participate and share this most special evening. The program will be held in the Rappahannock County High School auditorium and begins at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Lions Club auction
The Rappahannock Lion’s Club annual benefit auction will be held Saturday, May 12 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. “Many valuable items have been donated and residents are reminded that all donations will be greatly appreciated.” said an organizer. All are tax deductible. Lions members will be on hand May 11 until 10 p.m. and all day on May 12 to receive your donations. Benefit auction for SVFD
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a benefit auction on Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. Anyone wishing to donate items should contact C.B. Johnson at 987-8264 or Tim Falls at 987-8142.
'Babar' at Theater
The movie Babar will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22 at 2 p.m. each day. Jean de BrunhofFs beloved classics have delighted children and parents alike since 1931. Now the wonderful adventures of Babar, the orphaned elephant king, are depicted in this lovingly rendered animated feature that’s a treat for viewers of all ages. The movie is rated G.
