He was preceded in death by his father, Fenton B. Cook: brother, Jerry 0. Cook; and daugther, Sandra “Cookie” Cook.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Cook of Hyattsville, Md; mother, Mirtha E. Cook of Niceville, Fla.; son Sampson Roe “Sonny” Cook; daughter, Vivian Whelan, both of Hyattsville, Md; brothers, ' Claude Cook and Tommy Cook, of Niceville, Fla.; sisters, Rebecca' Gore of Castleton and Laura Hollingsworth of Nahant, Ma.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted April 20 at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Boiler officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery, Valparaiso, Fla.

Shenandoah National Park is asking the public for assistance in developing an official logo, and has announced a Park logo contest. The prize for the winning entry will be $500, while the second and third place entrants will receive $250 and $100 respectively.
