The National Eye Care Project is sponsored by the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology and the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Since the project began four years ago, more than 5,000 Virginia residents have called the NECP Helpline, and more than 3,300 needy elderly within the state have been referred to volunteer ophthalmologists.
