Mr. Jamieson added that the fund drive is not a hit or miss, one shot deal. “It will continue, we will keep going until we raise the money.” With the support of the community, he added, the goal will be reached sooner.
He said the committee hopes that bids for constructing the new building can be advertised in the fall of this year. Last month, a sign was put up along U.S. 211 marking the future site of the library -- a concrete reminder to everyone who passes that the project is moving ahead.
“This cause is non-sectarian, nonpolitical and non-racial,” Mr. Jamieson said. “Our library is truly a community service — and supporting it is a community service as well. ”
