Decorating a home with masterpieces by Seerey-Lester, Bateman, Calle, Brenders or Solberg usually means travelling and shopping in galleries in Washington, D.C., New York or other major cities.

Now, these nationally acclaimed artists and others offer limited edition, standard edition and second edition prints. They can be purchased in Sperryville.

Southern Drawl Artworks, owned and operated by Kathy and Scott Sutton of Slate Mills, is located off U.S. 211 on Sperryville’s Main Street. It specializes in the display, matting, framing and sales of nationally acclaimed artwork.

Besides an afternoon refresher course in fine art, the browser, the customer or just a friend can have a cup of hot coffee and a quick sandwich from the gallery’s microwave kitchen.

“The name was deliberate,” proprietor Scott Sutton said, adding that his is a “low brow” sort of gallery where people can come in and feel comfortable. “It’s high end art in an informal atmosphere,” he said with a warm smile.
