methods for getting the tanks pumped, but had rejected them as too complicated, too expensive, or both.
The truck is a used pumper owned by Frank Stringfellow of Washington, who agreed to sell it to the WSA for $4,500. The WSA also authorized member Charles K. “Pete” Estes, who is also a member of the board of supervisors, to talk with county administrator John McCarthy about registering and insuring the truck through the county, thus getting a lower rate.
The WSA also authorized a $1,200 increase in salary for plant operator Tim Falls as compensation for the extra work he will do in pumping the tanks. The members said they feel that about four tanks will need to be pumped each month to keep on schedule.
The effluent pumped from the tanks will be put into the treatment plant, where it will aid the treatment of the water already being processed through it.
Mr. Swindler reported that the health department had given its approval of the plan.
He added that the authority hopes to have the truck on the road and the pumping operation underway by May 1.
