“The goals are not what’s impoi tant; che town is what’s important; Col. Willis said. He said that th comprehensive plan says the town i a “tranquil place where children ca ride bicycles in the street.” He sai' rather than riding bicycles, the chil dren ride skateboards in the street “I’d go along with putting ‘skate boards’ in there as long as you don’ put ‘tranquil’ in the same paragraph This town is where the whole community gets together; it’s pretty busy.” He said the owners of The Inn had had a study of the town done that showed that there were between 1200 and 1800 cars a day coming through town. “It’s not a quiet peaceful little town, but it’s a good town. You’ve got to understand what the town is when considering rezoning tonight.”
“To me the task is not to be for or against The Inn, but to decide is this the kind of development the comprehensive plan envisions? Is this making life better or making life worse for most of the people in town?” Mr. Wickens concluded.
Before taking up The Inn’s application the planners discussed noise and discharging firearms within the town. Mr. Neufeld asked if there was an ordinance prohibiting the discharge of firearms within the town. He reported hearing several shots recently. Mr. Reynolds said he thought that had been included in an ordinance that the town council had rescinded. Mr. Neufeld also com' plained about construction noise early in the mornings on weekends.
