Park has TDD

People who are deaf or hearing impaired can now reach Shenandoah National Park through the use of a telecommunication device for the deaf (TDD).

The new machine, which works like a typewriter, will allow communication with those who have access to another TDD machine. Park visitors who wish to use the TDD should dial the general Park phone number, (703) 999-2243, then they will be connected to the TDD machine.

Shenandoah National Park also announces a change in the telephone number for making reservations at Big Meadows Campground. The Ticketron number is now (900) 3705566. Reservations can be made up to eight weeks in advnace for overnight stays from May 25 to Oct. 29. The camping fee is $10 per nightr
