Honored for length of service
at the Flint Hill firemen’s banquet last Wednesday were Emory C. Russell and John S. Browning who have each served sixteen years as a member and office of that volunteer organization. Mr. Russell served this tenure as fire chief and is presently serving as the treasurer. Mr. Browning held the office of treasurer for that length of time and has retired from office. They were each presented an engraved plaque by the company’s president, H.S. Barksdale.

C. E. Johnson Jr. has been
cited by the Virginia Horticultural Society for his leadership in the fruit industry of the state. He was presented a plaque at a recent meeting of the Society in Roanoke, which said, in part, C.E. Johnson, Jr., a fruit grower who has given unselfishly of his time in providing leadership for the benefit of the Virginia fruit industry, especially in the areas of marketing and processing.
