Last week the vandals struck again and now the fruit of my daughter’s efforts for their father lies bruised and shattered in a ditch.
On the last two occasions, because teen-agers love to boast of their crimes, almost all knew who did it.
However we declined to press charges as it would have meant a court record and bad feelings.
Unfortunately such leniency gained no favor from those involved, and the sign is once more tom down. This creates a dilemma for all those who have been boasted to; guilty knowledge unreported makes them unwilled accessories to the crime.
The thoughtless acts of a few people are reflected on the whole —making a reflection not always wanted.
Once again these peers have become victims of the vandals even as Katie and Marcy have. An act of such ugliness touches more than a few. When will some young people of Rappahannock learn to imitate the beauty of their mountains?
