Even merchants outside Sperryville benefitted from the weekend. Fanning Buamgardner, who sells cut-your-own Christmas trees across from the high'school said; “We didn’t expect to sell many, but we sold more than we expected.” He said he had sold more than 20 trees over the weekend.
He finds that customers are getting their trees earlier than they used to. He said he believes the Colorado Blue Spruce is the best tree for those who want to keep a tree up for weeks, but many of his customers were choosing Norway Spruce.
