The Virginia Extension Service in PD9, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Health, is sponsoring a 16-hour certification course on Applied Food Service Sanitation for food service personnel. It will be held from 2-5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 2, and 9, 1993 at the Southeastern Elementary School Complex, Route 28, Midland, Va.
This course is designed to educate owners, operators, managers, and other food service personnel in proper food handling techniques and sanitation management. This course will help managers increase the level of sanitation in their facility, while decreasing the amount of foodborne disease.
The textbook used will be “Applied Food Service Sanitation” (cost is included in tuition). After completion of the course, there is a onehour exam. With successful completion of the course and passing the exam, students will be issued a certificate by the National Restaurant Association.
The cost of the five-week course is $85. Registration is due Dec. 22.
