The Rescue Squad will hold
a sale Saturday, Dec. 15, 1962 upstairs at the Firehouse. The sale will consist of new merchandise left over from carnival prizes, with articles including thermos jugs, picnic bags, trash cans, trays, stuffed toys, sets of glasses, tool set, garbage cans, tackle boxes, and ladies’jewelry. These items will be sold at cost and will make nice Christmas gifts. They may be seen before the sale by contacting any member of the Rescue Squad.
Rappahannock Panthers started their 1962-63 basketball season with a bang as both Junior Varsity and Varsity teams defeated the John S. Mosby Academy teams. The Junior Varsity team gained their first victory in two seasons by topping the Rangers 23-13. The Panthers started slow; by the end of the first quarter they were scoreless 4-0. During the second and third quarters they organized their at: tack and were training by only one point 13-12. By completely dominating the backboards, the Panthers got their offense in high gear and scored 11 points in the 4th quarter while the Rangers failed to score. The Varsity kept on the winning trail by edging the Rangers 43-37 in the second game.
