Even that inevitability, however, pales in comparison to Dale Bartles’ recollection of the first Saturday.
Bartles was alone in the house —his wife, Susan, and their daughters Leea and Rachael, were out.
"I heard a sound — it’s hard to describe it — it was like the ceiling was falling down, like the whole house was falling apart,” he said. "I went from room to room trying to find out what it was, and didn’t see anything. Finally, 1 opened the basement door. It was the last place I looked on my way out. ’’
