Leading the team’s juniors is Foster, who played in only 11 games last year after coming up mid-seaSon from the junior varsity squad, “he is a defensive and rebounding specialist,” Leake said.
“I am hoping that as the season progresses he will be more willing to be as agressive on offense as he is on defense,” he said.
J.C. Welch, a 5’10” guard who lettered last year while averaging five points per game, is another strong junior. He is one of the team’s best shooters, Leake said. “As a lefty he provides some court balance on offense and he has good range with his jump shot,” Leake said.
“I expect he will be more willing to penetrate on offense and drive to the basket this year,” he said.
Jonathan Fletcher, at 6’2” and 190 pounds, is listed as a forward on Leake’s depth chart. Leake believes he is capable of playing any of three positions under the basket. “He has been impressive on offense. His skill level is high and I believe he will be a big contributor for us, especially after he learns the defensive schemes,” Leake said.
A1 Kellert, another 6’2” forward is coming up from the J.V. squad this year.
