Salary: $28,089-$42,888.. ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST SENIOR-FIELD #01916-Culpeper. JOB SHARE ARRANGEMENT-2 PERSONS SHARE 1 POSITION. EACH PERSON WORKS 20 HOURS PER WEEK. Individual to prepare legally sufficient environmental documents in compliance with Federal regulations; obtain environmental clearances for construction and maintenance projects; conduct field reviews; and provide technical advice and instructions to VDOT personnel. Communicates with citizens and local, State, and Federal officials; attends public hearings; responds to inquiries; and analyzes/monitors highway construction and maintenance projects' impact on the environment. Knowledge of State and Federal laws, regulations, and practices applicable to highway construction and environmental quality. Must be able to prepare environmental documents and reports and communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Graduation from college/univcrsity with major coursework in biology, ecology, environmental science or related field and/or education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the described duties.
