Some very interesting first grade ecosystem science projects are on display in the front hall show case. Drop by and see them.
Second graders have started the new year with a splash as they delve in underseas study. The smell of tuna fish drifted down the halls as they culminated their unit with a seafood feast. Neighborhood and community drawings show that second graders are learning about their surroundings. The drawings were so realistic that parents were able to identify their own home in the drawings.
Third grade classes have been reading Amelia Bedelia stories, exploring ocean life, and studying apples. Some most unusual ocean creatures have been spotted on the third grade hall-so beware.
Fourth graders have learned about rocks and minerals, Virginia, and writing letters. Computers play a big part in their education this year; however, they use their textbooks as reference and resource tools. Yes, fourth grade still does use books. The fourth grade classes attending the Virignia State Fair in Richmond. Not only did they enjoy tasty “fair food” but they saw many of the industries of Virignia which were represented. They especially enjoyed seeing the animals, the pizza garden, and the souvenirs.
The fifth grade science classes have been studying the structure and function of plants.
Officer Brown from the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Department has begun the DARE program in fifth grade. DARE is a drug prevention program which tries to prevent the use of drugs through education about drugs and their effects.
