Once a month, at ten in the morning, a group of volunteers gathers to critique the most recent “Friday at the Library" program, comparing the audience size and response, evaluating what went right, considering what could be improved and planning, scheduling and making arrangements fpr a variety of future programs.
It is the Library Program Committee, increasingly aware of responsibility to provide meaningful opportunities to community audiences about the cultural and educational mission it is serving.
The committee has decided upon program subjects through February of next year and has tentatively discussed other program ideas that could provide continuity for the “Friday at the Library” series until the Summer hiatus. How could we successfully follow the Civil War or the Fox Hunt that follows the hounds?
It was decided to try to overcome “computer illiteracy” by helping the audience to understand some basic computer language, to become familiar with simple computer vocabulary and to have the opportunity for “hands on” exposure to the new “public access” library cataloguing system currently being programmed for community users at the Rappahannock Library.
