Frances Conover was honored earlier this month with a write-up on her many accomplishments at the Vint Hill Farms Station in a publication there. Ms. Conover has worked at the site since 1982.
According to the article her outstanding performance in the work place has enabled her to climb eight promotion grades in 11 years. In the mid-1980’s Ms. Conover was selected as “Support Person of the year.”
Later this month Ms. Conover will sit on a panel with other Vint Hill workers in recognition of Disability Awareness Month. The theme of this months awareness is “Myth Busting.” The panel event will be held at the post theatre on Oct. 28.
Ms. Conover has two daughter, Beth age 22 and Alissa who is 13 and resides at Sunnyside Farm in Harris Hollow. Ms. Conover is the daughter of the late Downing and Alice R. Wood.
A birthday party was held Sunday, Oct. 17 in honor of Amanda Smoot at the home of her parents, ' Bobby and Connie Smoot and brother, Joshua and her half-sister Samantha. Amanda was three on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Those attending were Charlie and Florine Baldwin of Slate Mills, Ashley Weakley of Sperryville, Jeff, Becky, Jeffrey, Charles and Crystal Burke, Ronnie, Kim and Lee Nicholson, Dolly Nicholson, Cindy and Emmy Lou Wenzel, Mike and Victoria Hudson all of Washington and Wayne Baldwin of Madison.
Amanda received many nice gifts.
Amanda and her family enjoyed pizza at the Melting Pot in Front Royal on Saturday.
Amanda and her mother, Connie, visited her uncle, Jack, Rhonda and David Baldwin in Sperryville on Sunday.

Mrs. Addie Keyser entertained with a birthday dinner for her son Donald Keyser of Alexandria on Sunday. Guests were Donald’s daughter Candy and her husband David of Luray, Mrs. Jennetta Pullen of Flint Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Keyser of Sperryville.
Mr. and Mrs. John Schultz attended a meeting of The Silver Eagle Association in Johnstown, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Schultzs were Sunday overnight guests of Mrs. Marion Taylor in Ostrander, Ohio before returning home on Tuesday afternoon.

The Clark family reunion was held Saturday at the Rappahannock Park with 55 attending from Arkansas, Maryland and Virginia.
