jfdthe Editor: *, * Elections are closer, tempers are Shorter, and minds are probably in a jwfiirl of confusion. It is truly amazing how candidates say things that ‘jSeem” to carry the correct message to the people who are going to be casting votes during elections. I'' During the recent debate beJ\£een the candidate’s for governor, JJary Sue Terry and George Allen, one couldn’t help but notice the fleeting efforts by Ms. Terry to maintain Her level of qualification for the position by slandering her opponent, Mr. Allen, for his acquaintances and associations with preachers, and accusing him of introducing religious hatred into the campaign. Enough of “ that mudslinging.
The truth of the matter is that while there are some “preachers” and “religious” people who have messed up, there are many many more who have not and who will not. Yes, the publicity has hurt those of us who are honest, decent, hardworking, Christian America-loving citizens but it should not be used as a crutch by any candidate to win a political victory.
