Halloween Party
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be having a Halloween party at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. There will be games, refreshments and prizes.
Polaroid Education Program
On Tuesday, Nov. 16 at the Rappahannock County High School auditorium, Polariod Education Progaram is offering a Visual Learning Workshop for area teacher from 4:15 to 6 p.m. Teachers will receive a freelPolaroid carmera, training in its use, and ideas about using instant photography to enrich any curriculum. They will also become members of Polaroid’s proof of purchase exchange program for educators and receive a regular newsletter with hands on information from other teachers. The workshop fee is $10 and registration must be sent to PEP, Rt. 1 Box 45, Washington, Va., 22747 by Nov. 2nd. Participants will also need to bring a pack of600 film. Girl Scouts To Sell Calendars
Girl Scout troop 547 of the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council will be selling Girl Scout wall calendars and packet calendars in front of the Flint Hill Post Office complex from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.
The calendars are $2 and the money will be used to purchase turkeys for Social Services at Thanksgiving for needy Rappahannock families.
November Library Programs
“Meet the Computer” is the program to be presented for Friday at the Library at 8 p.m. on Nov. 5. Jim Small, computer programmer for Blueridge Technologies of Flint Hill, will describe and demonstrate the Rappahannock Library’s new “public access’ cataloguing sytem. Refreshments will follow.
A new Sunday afternoon program will be presented at the Library by herbalist Kathleen Maier of Flint Hill from 3 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 7. She will share her knowledge and demonstrate how “Putting Herbs In Your Life” can add spice to experience. Herb teas and cakes will be shared with the audience.
Library programs are free to all, so bring your friends.
