Rappahannock New« Staff Writer " The Board of Supervisors postponed making any decisions on the county budget until June 21.
That is the date scheduled for a special meeting to adopt the budget and appoint a School Board member from Stonewall-Hawthom District.
At Monday’s meeting incumbent member John Tole was the only person nominated for the School Board seat. The person appointed must have been nominated at Monday’s meeting. So Dr. Tole will be reappointed. Stonewall-Hawthom District representative Robert Anderson nominated him.
The term will be shortened because of upcoming School Board elections. Dr. Tole will serve from July 1, 1994, until December 31, 1995.
All School Board seats will be up for election in November 1995, and the members elected then will take office in January 1996.
At Monday night’s public hearing on the county budget no one appeared to speak against the anticipated tax increase from 62 cents per hundred to 69 cents per hundred on real estate. The 11 percent increase is less than half last year’s 24 percent increase.
