HOV-2 Lanes
The transportation spending bill passed by the subcommittee on transportation of the House Appropriations Comittee includes a provision to reduce high occupancy vehicle (HOV) requirements in 1-66 inside the beltway from HOV-3 to HOV-2. •
This provision was added to the bill by 10th District Rep. Frank Wolf at the request of Gov. George Allen. The change is for a one-year trial basis. It is suposed to reduce congestion by making the HOV lanes more accessible to commuters and make rules for the lanes inside the beltway correspond with the HOV lanes on 1-66 outside the beltway.
