Goode sponsored two bills to put smoking in the civil rights category and block businesses from responding to the health needs of their employees and customers. Goode even voted against no-smoking in schools in the 1994 General Assembly session. As regards the outdoor environment, Goode has opposed bottle deposits and funding for the Metro. Goode is not good for breathing. 1 Sylvia Clute, whom I have known for 14 years, has spent her life working to empower people to help themselves. TTiat’s one of the compelling factors of her campaign—that she actually listens to and works for the people. For example, she is printing most of her campaign literature on recycled paper, and she supports the right of communities to say no to unwanted waste dumps. Clute opposes discrimination in waste site selection. She’s also the only candidate to support immediate recall of elected officials.
