To the Editor
The Republicans have chosen their candidate, and on next Tuesday the Democrats must choose theirs. I would urge my fellow Democrats to choose Chuck Robb for the following reasons.
First, Chuck Robb has been an effective Senator. His views, and his votes on the issues reflect those of the citizens of Virginia more closely than any candidate in either party. Sooner or later this campaign will come away from the mud and the negative advertising, and will come down to a candidate’s stands on issues. When it does, Virginians will find that only Chuck Robb reflects their own position on issues that' matter.
Also, Chuck Robb has been an effective party builder. When he first ran for office, the Democratic party of Virginia had been out of office in Virginia. Chuck Robb was one of the founders of the Democratic Leadership Committee, an organization which has brought moderate Democrats tQ positions of leadership all over the south. Chuck Robb has been supportive of other Democrats in their bids for office, and he has not engaged in negative* campaigning against fellow Democrats. Now he needs your support and your vote.
