To the Editor;
There’s one overriding reason Virginians will vote to reelect Senator Chuck Robb this year: His outstanding governmental record, as opposed to raw efforts by jealous political enemies to trash a good man.
Virginians want fiscal conservatism and government accountability. Chuck Robb has led the fight to reduce the federal deficit, with balanced-budget groups naming him to their U.S. Senate Honor Roll for his work and voting record.
Virginians want a strong stand against crime. Chuck Robb works in the U.S. Senate for tougher sentences for criminals, a crackdown on violence in schools, and for more and better community policing.
Virginians want better education for their children and grandchildren. Chuck Robb has been a key Senate supporter of higher educational opportunities through national service, for Head Start for pre-schoolers, and for affordable college loans. Ask Virginia’s teachers, about Chuck Robb’s record: The Virginia Education Assoication endorses him for reelection.
Senator Robb’s list of accomplishments goes on and on. The only thing his political enemies go on and on about are personal errors more than 10 years old.
Chuck Robb has abundantly explained and apoligized for long-age errors. His wife and family support him without reservation. So do thoughtful and fair-minded Virginians.
Only Chuck Robb’s political enemies are reduced to their own distortions and malice. Even the most lipsmacking news reporters have tired of inflating events out of perspective after more than 10 years.
Virginians will compare those distortions to Chuck Robb’s career record:
