tired his sore-blistered hands to his cabin home, never looking back. He began a career as a watch repairman and tonsorialist (barber).
As he continued to work at his new vocations, he added another dimension—that of a photographer. Everyone seemed to be obsessed with picture-taking. Along the way he acquired a professional camera unit with a tripod and framer, and within minutes he was able to furnish his customers with a beautiful personal picture.
Camp meetings and church suppers provided a booming business for the new photographer. As an added novelty he sold necklaces, beads, pins, watches and so forth to adorn the beautiful ladies anxious to show how they looked in pictures. His demand and popularity grew by leaps and bounds. Soon he needed a horse and buggy to accommodate his growing business.
This experience of personal achievement helped prepare him for his entry into the arena of his greatest triumph—real estate. Early in
