In the afternoon session the supervisors appointed John Norman to a seat on the Recreational Facilities Authority replacing Donna Kevis who resigned.
They discussed a letter from William Allen, director of the Virginia Extension Service. The letter said Rappahannock County with only one extension agent is a high priority to have the agricultural agent’s position filled. However, it noted the state budget that starts in July 1995 calls for an additional cut of $600,000 from extension. The letter said, “Anyone newly employed faces layoff in the second year of the biennium if those funds are not restored.” ;
The supervisors said they doubted it would be possible to fill the position if it was likely to be cut again next July. / j
