The Republican “tap dancing” and “handwaving” efforts to disguise what happened in Richmond this winter are certainly in full swing. A perfect example of this is a recent letter in the May 24 edition of the Rappahannock News. Normally something of this nature can be recognized for what it is and ignored. But so many of the assertions contained therein are either misleading or totally wrong that they cannot remain unchallenged.
The assertion that what the legislators voted on was a budget introduced by Dickie Cranwell and was not really the Allen budget is an disingenuous as it is mendacious.
The General Assembly has a morning hour before the start of the legislative work day which legislators of both parties used to introduce guests, to talk about subjects of general interest and to take care of other procedural actions not directly pertaining to legislation.
