Mark Wood Butler, 59, of Sperryville was arrested on Tuesday for brandishing a firearm at the Scrabble dump last Saturday evening.
The criminal complaint was filed by Robin Day of Sperryville following an incident which occurred at the Scrabble dumpster last Saturday evening. Mr. Day said that- when he arrived at the dumpster, he saw three men and two pickup-trucks. When he started throwing trash and then some wood into the dumpster, he said that he heard comments from the men, such as “That SOB must not be able to read, he is throwing wood.”
According to Mr. Day, one of the men, Franklin Hitt, 39, of Boston, told him that he was going to beat up Mr. Day and put him in the dumpster. At that point Mr. Day said he stopped putting wood into the dumpster and got ready to leave. When he began pulling out, he said, one of the men, Mr. Butler, had a gun on him.
