for grand larceny, tor stealing lumber from a job on which he worked as a carpenter, i le maintained that he did not commit the crime but pleaded guilty to the amended charge of petit larceny as he felt it was in iiis best interest to do so.

Commonwealth's Attorney Peter f uke said that a statement by Mr. Baumgardner claimed that he did take lumber from the construction site.

Judge W. Shore Robertson set August 18 as the date for receipt of a pre-sentencing report for Mr. Baumgardner and his sentencing.

Grand larceny charges against Thomas Clacton llaun, Jr., 25, of RixeyviHe, and John Russell Turner, 33, of Culpeper, lor stealing a coffeewood tree were nolle pressed by Mr. 1 uke. They were being prosecuted as accessories to the crime. I wo other people actually cut down the tree, said Mr. Luke, and one of them has been convicted of the crime.
