Peter Kreyling triumphed again in the Second Annual Rappahannock Rug Rat Road Rally last Saturday, winning the event for the second year in a row.
Cars, drivers and passengers lined up at St. Peter’s church for last minute instructions and the start of the competition Saturday morning.
Along with following a car rally route, contestants had to answer a series of questions about things seen and unseen along the route.
Mr. Kreyling managed to get 89 correct answers out of 93. This remarkable feat was accomplished while following a route that led from the parking lot to Skyline Treasures west of Sperryviile, back through Sperryville, along U.S. 211 to a right on the Rock Mills Road, along that to Route 621 to 620, left to Woodville, left again on Route 621 retracing a previous section to the left on the Rock Mills Road, right to Washington, and left to Mountain Green Farm.
Rock Mills itself and Mt. Salem Baptist Church were not on the precribed route, but several cars managed to find themselves there.
The most exasperating questions involved the caboose at That Sperryviile Emposium and Yertle the Turtle.
At the Emporium the clue read:
