VDOT is preparing for winter’s icy blast.
According to VDOT, the timely and efficient removal of snow from the highways in Virginia is necessary to insure safe use by the motoring public. Inadequate snow and ice removal means loss of time from work and school, in creased response time for emergency vehicles, increased possibility of injury or death of motorists and general economic losses to individuals and the business community.
Preparing for snow and ice control goes on throughout the year. Regular, routine equipment maintenance and inspections are conducted year round. Detailed equipment inspections are conducted each fall
