• If jewelry is being custom-made, repaired, or sized, specify that the appropriate solder be used (14K. solder on 14K gold). The use of a lower-karat solder could cause skin to blacken or the solder joints to turn dark brown or green.
• If the jewelry contains gemstones, make sure there is metal securing the stones in their settings. One or two prongs will not hold a round stone securely.
