To the Editor:

It seems each time I drive through Rappahannock County I see another house being built on the side of a beautiful mountain. Some of these homes are painted with colors that don’t blend at all with the surroundings, and others have large areas cleared of the natural growth.

I find it ironic that Rappahannock County allows this but will not allow a trailer park or low cost housing development to accommodate those of lesser means.

I respectfully challenge the powers-that-be to address this issue and possibly take a drive to some of the surrounding counties which allow such development

GOP Victory?

To the Editor:

It may come as a surprise to some readers, but last Tuesday’s election was a victory for the Virginia GOP and yes, for Governor Allen.

Liberal Democrats have started the drumbeat that because the GOP failed to win both houses of the General Assembly that Virginia has somehow repudiated Governor Allen.

When Virginians went to the polls last Tuesday, 52 percent voted Republican in a state that has had dictatorial Democratic control for most
