Mrs. Rogers’ other creations, including moss reindeer, snowmen Christmas tree ornaments, and various smaller dolls, will be on display and for sale at Patti Mullan’s Sundance stained glass studio on Gay Street in Washington beginning the day after Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Rogers is known by many locals for the porcelain faeries she has been producing since 1977. The faeries are 8” to 9” tall and are placed on the forest floor or with wildflowers. She hopes to begin selling these locally also.
The dolls are already available in many out-of-town stores, in Fredericks-burg, Atlanta, Saluda, NC, and Vienna. Ultimately, Mrs. Rogers wants to make greeting cards to go along with the dolls.
Marionettes are another passion of Mrs. Rogers. She has been creating them and travelling to Renaissance fairs for several years, including an annual fair in Florida. She not only makes the marionettes, she puts on shows with them, to the delight of her audiences.
Mrs. Rogers majored in Design at the Corcoran School of Art, studied Cartooning and Illustrative Design at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, and studies English Composition and Writing at Germanna Community College.
She has worked as a graphic artist, sculptor, cartoonist, retailer/wholesaler, and teacher. She is presently the staff editorial cartoonist for the Rappahannock News and is a part-time commissioned artist.
