Christmas angels appear on earth this time of year, disguised as county residents who donate time and energy to relieve want in what should be a season of plenty.
Churches, civic organizations and schools launch programs through which individual angels can reach out to the community. Programs such as Operation: Book Rescue, Adopt-A-Family, canned goods drives and the Jaycees’ Toy Warehouse gear up around Thanksgiving, collecting gifts to fill hearts as well as stomachs with Christmas cheer.
