1 asked who makes the determination as to what stamps will be issued. That is done by a “Stamp Advisory Committee.” Terry McCaffrey is Project Manager for Stamp Development.
I appreciate the fact that there are many different religions. However, the Postal Service always issues other secular stamps at Christmas time. 1 am offended that the work “Christmas” was left off the Madonna and child stamp. If you are offended, too, you may express your concerns and request an explanation to the following:

You may wish to inquire if a decision has been made for 1996 stamps; if so, what are their designs and wording.
I first learned about the stamps when listening to WPRZ AM 1250 broadcast of Point of View from 2:05 to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 17. Another lady ; from Virginia had called the Postal Service and got the same explanation as I; however, when Postmaster General Runyon spoke with Point of View, he said it was an error and the word “Christmas” would be back in 1996. It should be interesting to^see what explanations we get in writing.
