Sally Behrendt, the outreach coordinator for St. Stephens, said, “During the holidays we consider the special needs in the community. We donate clothing and household goods to Head Start and the Fauquier Family Shelter. We also keep a food pantry at the FISH warehouse and make 125 deliveries during the year -— those deliveries increase during the holidays.”

Marshall Baptist Church took a collection for the needy at its community Thanksgiving service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22. This effort is sponsored by the Marshall area Ministerial Association.

Grove Baptist Church in Goldvein gives out food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas, according to pastor Ron Roach.

Businesses can also become Christmas angels.

Weichert Realtors is running a toy drive through Friday, Dec. 8, an annual event that goes back 16 years.

“The toys don’t need to be wrapped," said Victoria Miller. “We are accepting only new toys, but they can be for boys and girls of all ages.”

Once the big box in Weichert’s lobby is tilled with toys, it will be delivered to the Jaycees’ Toy Workshop for distribution.
