Piedmont District representative Dennis Wingfield made the motion to approve the budget, and Hampton District representative Bryant Lee seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.
The position of Director of Administrative .. Services, with.a salary currently of $47,850, was replaced with the position of Supervisor -qf Facilities with a salary of $24,000. pr. Gangel said other school systems handle the position in a similar manner.
Board Chairman John Tole said, “We’re right at the edge of having to make cuts that will, seriously affect kids.” ,
Mr. Lee said, “This upcoming year we’re guaranteed not to get $200,000. We might have to look at more cuts in a future budget.”
The board also approved a field trip for about 20 high school students to the DARE American International Summit in Washington, DC.
