During the current year, Rappahannock’s contribution for health insurance at $187 per month covered the entire single subscriber premium for the first time, but School Superintendent David Gangel said the insurance company had estimated premiums would increase by 15 percent while the budget requests a 10 percent increase to $206.

Fauquier County’s health insurance covers the single subscriber premium. Page County offers $115 per month, and is requesting an increase to $120 per month. Warren County offers $180 per month. Madison County is requesting an increase from $125 per month to $140. Culpeper offers $150 per month. The single subscriber insurance rates in these counties are not identical. Rates are based on the insurance company’s experience with the group.

The surrounding counties are, like Rappahannock County, waiting for their boards of supervisors to act on their budgets. School boards in Culpeper, Fauquier, Page and Rappahannock counties have adopted their budgets. Madison and Warren county school boards were expected to adopt budgets this week..
