Since 1970, when EPA was created, aggressive enforcement has helped achieve major environmental results. While not everyone will agree with every enforcement action, recent polls show the public clearly expects continued enforcement of the nation’js environmental laws. Hart-Teeier Research in 1995 found that 90 percent of the people polled said it’s nec\ essary for the government to keep g sharp eye on business and require clean-up of any air and water pollution they may create.

The Republican budget has already reduced our ability to meet our obligations to the public. Further cuts and uncertainty would jeopardize 25 years of accomplishment.
